Meet the Doctor
"The doctor of the Future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame and in the cause and prevention of dis-ease."
-Thomas Edison
As is often the case, a life-altering event in his own life led Jim McFadden to discover his passion and eventual career- Chiropractic. As a high school student of 15, Jim contracted viral encephalitis. He became deathly ill- running a fever of 105, losing 45 pounds in 6 weeks and being quarantined at home. He was riddled with severe head and body pain and medications were not an option due to potential fatal side effects. As the illness spiraled out of control, Jim was admitted to the hospital so that doctors could "keep him comfortable". It seemed nothing short of a miracle could turn the tide. Jim resorted to prayer and two days later his prayers were answered- he left the hospital illness free. This was Jim`s first real glimpse into the power of the human body- that given the right opportunity the body can indeed heal itself.
His next epiphany came when, consistent with his youth, he rushed the recovery process and suited up for the final game of the football season. He was determined to show that the illness would not get the best of him. During the game Jim suffered an injury to his lower spine and ended up in a chiropractor`s office in Pittsburgh. It was this experience that taught him specifically how the practice of Chiropractic can help facilitate the body`s amazing healing process and assist in its own recuperative ability. He had found his passion and his life`s work- or had it found him?
Whichever was the case, his many devoted patients are grateful that Dr. Jim, as he is affectionately known, is in their lives. In this modern age of medicine-huge practices, long waits and "cookie-cutter" treatment, Dr. Jim is a real throwback to the early personal days of healthcare. He is a practitioner who maintains a small office and insists on personalized, individual attention. His wife, Tiffany, meets and greets patients and keeps thing running with a smile. Very often, a patient is greeted with a hug and the "hands-on" healing experience begins. When given the opportiunity to talk about his work his voice resonates with knowledge, conviction and zeal. He is truly a champion of the cause that Edison referred to so many years ago- the prevention of dis-ease.
Jim graduated from Life University of Marietta, Georgia in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and a Doctorate of Chiropractic. While in Atlanta, he also received a post-graduate degree in the specialty field of Spinal and Skeletal Disorders in Radiology. The case study of a 4 year old on a kidney transplant list, who Dr. Jim was working on, was highlighted in the book "Chiropractic Works! Adjusting to a higher quality of life."- a great honor for a remarkable man.
Dr. McFadden currently serves on the Internation Board of Governors for the World Chiropractic Alliance Organization. He is also a member of the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association and the Gonstead Clinical Studies Society. Currently Jim continues to broaden his exposure even more- as he is enrolled in 3-year program to become a Diplomat in Pediatrics.
